By collaborating with the Burlington County Freeholders and others throughout the County, the Burlington County Bridge Commission has assisted townships with improvement projects. Taxpayers benefit not only from the results of those projects, but also from the cost savings that are enjoyed along the way.

What economic development efforts do:

What kind of assistance is available?

Over $9.3 million in grant money has been obtained for economic development projects in 24 South Jersey towns.
|
|
|
Assistance we’ve provided:
- obtained over $7.2 million in grant monies for economic development, planning, and redevelopment projects in Bordentown Township, Burlington City, Burlington Township, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran, Edgewater Park, Evesham, Lumberton, Maple Shade, Moorestown, Mount Holly, Mount Laurel, New Hanover, North Hanover, Palmyra, Pemberton Township, Riverside, Riverton, Springfield BOE and Willingboro, NJ.
- worked to relocate the Fort Washington Expo Center to the south side of Rt. 73 (which has potential to generate up to $150 million annually)
- template to update municipalties COAH plans, in compliance with state deadlines
- storm water management plans to address State regulatory requirements (cost savings of about $100,000 per municipality)
- constructed an environmentally friendly vehicle wash system to comply with new NJDEP stormwater regulations, saving municipalities thousands of dollars and keeping contaminants out of the water supply
- assisted our partner municipalities on other community development and revitalization projects in:
- Palmyra (streetscape project)
- New Hanover (assistance in development of master plan)
- Beverly (development of land use planning & marketing of housing rehabilitation program)
- Burlington City (“Gateway” project & roadwork infrastructure)
- ongoing redevelopment initiatives in Riverside, Burlington City, & Mount Holly
- providing technical and financial assistance of up to $100,000 for debris removal from the Rancocas Creek (to address flooding that devastated Lumberton, Southampton, Medford and adversely affected homeowners and local businesses in April 2007 )—this project is already a model for other regions in our state
- North Hanover (assisted with sewer study and with development of master plan)
- Delanco (park and streetscaping)

Rancocas Creek Clean Up
In response to the April 2007 flooding of the Rancocas Creek that devastated Lumberton, Southampton, and Medford, the Commission partnered with the Freeholders and the NJ Dept of Environmental Protection—and promptly initiated a program to provide technical and financial assistance to address the problem of debris which has clogged the Rancocas Creek and which has been identified as a significant cause of the flooding.
